WHY USE A BABY SLEEPING BAG?
There is a significant difference between putting a baby in pyjamas and a blanket versus using a sleeping bag. Experts recommend using sleeping bags rather than blankets, as blankets can create discomfort and insecurity.
With blankets, there is a risk that the baby could cover their face, which we want to avoid at all costs. Additionally, their body temperature can fluctuate.
Baby sleeping bags are practical and safer, as they do not pose a risk to the baby’s breathing and keep their body temperature stable.
Sleeping bags are perfect for the first year when the baby is still adjusting to routines and staying in the crib. This ensures a restful and secure sleep for your baby.
WHAT IS TOG?
There are different types of sleeping bags with varying thicknesses. Depending on the time of year, you should choose the appropriate one. We refer to the thickness as TOG.
To determine how to keep your baby at the right temperature for sleep and which sleeping bag to use, TOG is crucial when selecting a sleeping bag.
The TOG rating is a system that measures the warmth of a fabric and, therefore, the insulation it provides for your baby. The higher the number, the thicker and warmer the sleeping bag will be.
- Tog 2.5: This is the recommended bag for winter. It is designed to protect the baby from lower temperatures and cold nights. (Rooms between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius)
- Tog 1.0: This sleeping bag is recommended for transitional seasons, such as spring and autumn. It is designed to keep the baby comfortable on cooler nights. (Rooms between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius)
- Tog 0.5: This sleeping bag is recommended for summer. It is designed for the baby’s comfort on warm nights following high daytime temperatures. (Rooms between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius)
This way, the little ones, without needing a duvet or covering themselves, will be protected all night and can move freely.
WHY ARE SLEEP ROUTINES IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN?
Routines provide children with security. By repeating the same actions every day, they learn what to expect, which reduces stress. Once they learn the routine, everything works better, including their rest is better.
For example, coming home, playing for a while, having a bath, putting on the sleeping bag, having dinner, reading a story, or doing a relaxation exercise before bedtime.
Baby sleeping bags should be an essential part of your little one’s routine.
